305.2 Encountering Jesus and the Kingdom (2)

Level 3 Course

A Study Of Luke And Acts

Welcome to the second of two courses on the Synoptic Gospels and Acts. Both courses are entitled ‘Encountering Jesus and the Kingdom’. The first course looked at the Gospels of Mark and Matthew. This course deals with the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts. Although the two courses are designed to be studied in sequence, it is possible to study this course without first completing the course on Mark and Matthew. This course aims:

  • to give a good overall understanding of the contents of the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts;

  • to give an understanding of how the message of the Gospel of Luke relates to the other accounts of Jesus in the Gospels of Matthew and Mark;

  • to engage with specific issues that arise from a study of the Gospel of Luke;

  • to evaluate how Luke and Acts relate to each other;

  • to reflect on the methods and content of Christian mission in Acts and to seek to apply these appropriately to the mission of the church today.

We hope and pray that this course will not only give you an understanding of the contents of Luke and Acts, but will enable you to grow in your own faith as a disciple of Jesus and help you serve him in the situation to which he has called you.

This is a 5 Block course
