Discipleship in non-book cultures
“Five years ago we began a Christian Discipleship programme …. We have been teaching Church leaders, using SEAN materials. They have been a marvellous tool for the Discipleship ministry. The people we teach go back to their villages and teach their people. We began with twenty four students, this expanded to two more small groups. To date over four hundred people have studied 'Abundant Life‘. The SEAN studies are a marvellous teaching resource for new Christians and any Christian who wants to grow in their faith and understand what it means to be a 21st century Christian.”

“Police Captain Oscar Ugarte lay in his prison cell, his life in tatters. One shot from his gun had led to his being divorced by his wife, abandoned by family and friends, sacked from his job and facing twenty five years in jail. After a few months, some missionaries visited the prison and, on hearing his story, presented him the Gospel message which he joyfully embraced. They also gave him the SEAN course Abundant Life which he devoured and began to put into practice. Other prisoners, seeing the change in his life, began to open up to the Gospel and also to accept Jesus as Saviour and Lord.”

“The first edition of 1000 copies in Wichí was published in 2011 by the Argentine Bible Society and in 2017 a second corrected edition of another 1000 copies was published. Wichí students are expected to read each lesson and write the answers to the questions and then in a group with their Wichí tutor go over the whole lesson together. “What we learn in this course is simply what we should do, what true belief is, how to love God and that if we really want to draw near to God we have to put in order our way of thinking all the time.” …for many Wichí the course has become one of the primary means for them to develop both reading and writing skills in their own language. One of the unforeseen outcomes of the Abundant Life course has been that a number of Wichí have started to produce their own materials in Wichí for teaching in their church communities.”

Systematic lay ministry training
“We have been so blessed here at Holy Trinity using the SEAN materials, mainly Life to the Full and Pure Gold with folk coming to faith and being baptised. We have recently taken the book 1 of The Life of Christ with over 25 attending. Those attending have really grown in their faith and understanding of scripture. The material is really inspirational with a diverse group from deputy head teachers to almost illiterate receiving from it.”

“When I returned to Chile after my Bible training I came across SEAN materials and immediately tried them out discovering what I had always suspected. They were the perfect tool for church planters. This was to be the way we would teach and train our churches and leaders from that day on as we began preaching the Gospel in Santiago Chile’s non-evangelised Upper middle classes. I was so convinced of the genius of SEAN’s approach that I devised a plan I called the Programme of Growth and Ministry (PROGROMIN) which combined learning and doing the ministry of Jesus. Over a six year period leaders could be trained and taught in all the essentials of church planting and edification. SEAN provided the useful, programmed studies and I could disciple the groups as they began to take on the leadership of the several churches that we began planting. We had to home grow our leaders so it became a necessity to train them on the job. To this day, SEAN forms the backbone to our training and study.”
